Talisman Audio System Failure

I did inspect the wiring as best as I could without pulling the entire dashboard apart. Couldn't see anything obvious. So, if I understand correctly, replacing the display unit solved the problem for you?

Correct. While I can't guarantee a 100% diagnosis without proper diagnostic equipment, the symptoms you describe strongly align with my experience. The display unit houses key processing components for the audio system; its failure can indeed cause a complete loss of audio function. Therefore, a workshop visit would be advisable; do you concur?

Thanks for confirming. I suspected as much. Dropped it off at the workshop. The repair bill came to 725€ for a new display unit. At least it’s sorted now!

I also own a Talisman and encountered a very similar problem not too long ago. The whole system went silent, and an error was logged. Did you check the wiring harness connecting to the head unit for any signs of damage or loose connections? Perhaps the speaker connections themselves?
