Talisman Brake Fluid Loss Spongy Pedal

My 2015 Renault Talisman diesel is acting up. The brake fluid level keeps dropping, and the pedal feels spongy, almost giving way. I've checked around the wheels, but I can't see any obvious leaks. Mileage is at 205571 km. Kinda worried, you know?

Spongy pedal and low fluid definitely point to a brake system issue. Have you thoroughly inspected all the brake lines themselves, especially where they connect to the calipers and master cylinder? Also, when was the last time you had your brake pads and rotors checked? Excessive wear there could be forcing the pistons out further, requiring more fluid.

Good shout on the brake lines, hadn't thought about the master cylinder connection. As for the brakes themselves, it's been a while. What sort of 'feedback' would worn brakes give through the pedal exactly? Would it feel like it's pulsating or just… weak?

Weak, unresponsive, maybe a bit of a delay. Pulsating is usually warped rotors, which is separate but also bad news. If the pads are worn thin, the pedal will have to travel further to engage the brakes fully, hence the spongy feel. With the fluid loss on top, it's best to get the whole system checked by a workshop. Could be a simple fix, could be more involved.

Cheers for the insight! Brakes were indeed shot, cost me 480€ to get sorted, but at least I'm stopping safely now. Turns out the worn pads were the main culprit, forcing the fluid down. Appreciate the guidance!
