Talisman engine control unit issue

My 2016 Renault Talisman with a gasoline engine has lost power, and the error memory shows an issue with the engine control unit. I've checked fuses and wiring, but found nothing obvious. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms on my old Opel, and it turned out to be a faulty main relay. It's a cheap part, but if it's failing intermittently, it can mess with the ECU. Check the relay that powers the ECU. Are any other electronics acting weird, or just the engine?

A faulty relay? Where exactly is the main relay located? Is it easy to get to, or will I be wrestling with a bunch of plastic trim?

On my old Opel it was in the engine compartment next to the ECU. Locate your ECU, and trace the main power supply wire back from there. If you are not sure, a workshop can check it quickly. Defective ECUs can cause more damage than a defective main relay.

Thanks for the tip! I took it to my local mechanic, and you nailed it – defective main relay. Apparently, it was causing the ECU to act up. New relay cost me about 120€ including installation, and the car's running like a champ again. Appreciate the help!
