Talisman engine stalling and power loss

My 2015 Renault Talisman with a gasoline engine has a check engine light, stalls at idle, and reduced power at 181457 km. Could this be a defective fuel volume regulator?

That sounds frustrating. I had similar symptoms with my Talisman. The check engine light, stalling, and power loss are classic signs. Have you noticed any rough idling or unusual engine noises alongside the fuel economy getting worse? If so, it might point to the high-pressure fuel pump failing, which controls the fuel volume. Fuel volume regulator is part of it. When the high-pressure fuel pump starts to go bad, it can cause all sorts of fuel delivery problems.

Indeed, I have detected some rough idling and a slight degradation in fuel economy. Could you elaborate on the specific symptoms you experienced, and what measures you undertook to address the problem?

Okay, rough idling and worsening fuel economy definitely strengthens the case for a fuel delivery issue. I didn't attempt any DIY fixes, as the high-pressure fuel system is quite sensitive. I took it straight to a trusted workshop. They confirmed it was the high-pressure fuel pump and the defective fuel volume regulator needed replacing. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, my advice would be to get it professionally diagnosed ASAP.

I appreciate your advice. I took the vehicle to a certified Renault service center. Following their diagnostics, they confirmed that the high-pressure pump was indeed defective, necessitating replacement of the fuel volume regulator. The total repair cost amounted to 1510€ Thank you again for sharing your experience.
