Talisman Oil Contamination
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Renault Talisman diesel owner reported concerns about oil contamination after a warning light appeared on the speedometer and the oil pressure warning lamp illuminated. The suspected cause was exceeding the maintenance interval, leading to potential engine oil contamination. The issue was confirmed at a workshop, where an oil change and filter replacement resolved the problem, highlighting the importance of adhering to maintenance schedules.

Thanks for the quick response. I haven't seen any visible oil leaks or heard strange noises, but how would one easily check for oil sludge without taking everything apart?

It's difficult to check for sludge comprehensively without disassembly. If the warning lights persist, and you’re sure the maintenance interval was exceeded, it is quite likely that the oil is contaminated. In that case, I'd recommend going to a workshop immediately.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to the workshop; it was indeed oil contamination due to the extended maintenance. An oil change plus filter replacement set me back 165€. Lesson learned: stick to the schedule!

I have a Talisman as well, and those are classic symptoms. Have you noticed any oil leaks or unusual engine noises accompanying this? You might want to check for oil sludge too.
