Talisman Poor Fuel Economy Hard Start

My 2020 Renault Talisman with a gasoline engine is giving me fits. I'm getting noticeably higher fuel consumption, and it's a real pain to start. Mileage is at 212703 km. I'm suspecting the throttle valve is defective. Could it be the accelerator pedal module causing this?

Hey, that sounds familiar! I had a similar problem with my old Opel Insignia. Same symptoms – terrible fuel efficiency and hard starts. Have you checked the throttle position sensor?

Throttle position sensor... hmm. I've been leaning towards the accelerator pedal module itself being faulty. Is that what fixed your Insignia, or was it something else?

Yeah, in my case, replacing the throttle position sensor didn't solve it. Eventually, the workshop diagnosed it as a defective control valve related to the accelerator pedal module. Might be worth getting it checked out professionally.

Thanks for the tip! I bit the bullet and took it to a mechanic. Turns out you were right! Defective accelerator pedal module. Repair cost me 205€. Appreciate the help!
