Thanks for the quick reply! No, I haven't checked the steering angle sensor specifically. Where is it located, and is there a way to test it without specialized tools? Is there anything that can be done to fix it?

I wouldn't recommend trying to fix or test it yourself, as it often requires recalibration with diagnostic equipment after replacement. My issue ended up being faulty coding of the steering angle sensor, which caused the symptoms you're describing. Given your symptoms, it's highly probable the sensor is defective. I suggest taking it to a workshop. They should be able to diagnose it properly. I had to pay 195€ for the fix. Keep in mind that they might also want to check the wheel alignment afterwards to make sure everything is in order.

I took the car to a local mechanic, and they confirmed it was indeed the steering angle sensor. They recoded it, and now everything is working perfectly again. Thank you so much for your help!

Hello. I drive a Renault Talisman as well, and experienced something similar some time ago. Have you checked the traction control and electronic stability program (ESP)? Sometimes, if the steering angle sensor malfunctions, it can cause those systems to act up, leading to increased steering effort and vibrations. The steering angle sensor provides data about the steering wheel's position to the car's computer. A faulty sensor can affect systems like power steering and electronic stability control.
