Taurus AC Not Cooling

My 2007 Ford Taurus with a gasoline engine AC isn't cooling at all anymore. The system doesn't even seem to switch on when I press the button. I'm guessing it might be individual valve defects. Anyone else run into this? I'm dreading the repair costs...

I had a similar issue on my Taurus a while back. Check your pressure switch first. If that's fine, you might have a refrigerant leak somewhere in the system. Is it making any weird noises when you try to turn on the AC? That might help narrow it down.

Thanks for the quick response! No weird AC noise that I can hear, but where exactly is the pressure switch located, and how can I check for a refrigerant leak without special equipment?

The pressure switch is usually near the receiver drier. As for the leak, without proper tools, it's hard to pinpoint. Your best bet is to take it to a workshop and have them do some AC diagnostics. They can check the pressures and use a leak detector. Trust me, it'll save you a lot of guesswork!

Alright, sounds like a plan. I will take it to a shop and see what they say. I was quoted around 1000€ for the repair, so here's hoping it's not too bad, I appreciate the help!
