Taurus control unit error

I'm having a weird problem with my 2009 Ford Taurus with a gasoline engine, around 58000 km on it. I'm getting a control unit communication error. The engine's overheating, check engine light's on, and coolant's spilling because of too much pressure. I think it's a bad cable or plug. Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar issue on my 2014 Audi A4. Turned out to be a data link problem messing with several control units. Have you checked the CAN bus wiring? A break or corroded connector can cause communication errors. Run a full diagnostics and check for diagnostic trouble codes.

Thanks, I appreciate the CAN bus wiring suggestion. Where exactly did you find the wiring issue on your Audi? Any specific control units or harness areas that were problematic?

On my Audi, it was a damaged section of the CAN bus wiring harness near the engine control unit. It was rubbing against the chassis, which wore through the insulation and caused intermittent shorts. The location might be different on your Ford, but check the wiring harness near major control units first. A workshop visit might be best.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Based on your advice and further checks, it was a corroded connector on the engine control unit. The repair, connector replacement and diagnostics, cost 95€. Your advice really helped fix the problem.
