Taurus Engine Overheating Slow Warm Up

I'm having trouble with my 2002 Ford Taurus with a gasoline engine. It's overheating and takes forever to warm up. I've checked a few things, but I'm not sure what's wrong. Could it be the thermostat cooling circuit motor? It has 160669 km.

Hey, I drive a Taurus too! I had similar overheating issues a while back. Did you check your water pump? I replaced mine a few years ago and it solved the issue.

Did your engine also take a long time to reach operating temperature? What did you check before replacing the water pump?

Yep, the slow warm-up was definitely happening! Honestly, I'm not the most mechanically inclined. I just took it to a workshop after a quick search online suggested it. They sorted it out pretty fast.

Thanks. That confirms my suspicion about the thermostat. I'll check the thermostat housing and circuit motor. I might need a professional, it could be the map thermostat. I'm guessing it'll cost around 350€.
