Terrano water sensor fault

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2004 Nissan Terrano diesel. The check engine light keeps popping on, and the error memory shows a fault related to the water sensor. The engine also runs rough sometimes, almost like it's misfiring. I've checked the sensor itself and it seems okay, but I suspect it might be a dodgy connection. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking it's likely a defective cable or plug. I also tested the sensor and it gives strange values!

Interesting. I had something similar happen with my Terrano. My check engine light was also on with some error. It was the water sensor plug. Try cleaning the plug with some contact cleaner first, might just be corroded.

Thanks, that's helpful! Where exactly was the water sensor plug located on your Terrano? Was it easy to access, or did you have to remove a bunch of stuff to get to it? Also, did cleaning it solve the issue completely, or did you end up needing to replace the plug or the sensor?

Yeah, mine was a bit of a pain to get to, tucked away near the fuel filter from what I recall. Cleaning it helped for a bit, but the light came back on after a few days. I ended up taking it to a workshop. Turned out the sensor itself was faulty and they found a loose connection too. It was 95€ including sensor and labor. Better safe than sorry, could mess up the engine!

Thanks for the advice! I went to the workshop today. They found exactly what you said, the cable connection had a defect. The bill came to 95€ like you said. I will keep an eye on it!
