Thalia Audio System Failure

My 2012 Renault Thalia (Symbol) with a gasoline engine has an audio problem. The entire audio system is dead – no sound whatsoever. The head unit powers on, but there's absolutely no audio output, not even a faint hiss. I've checked the fuses, and they seem fine. Given the mileage (239335 km), could it be a speaker issue? Any thoughts?

I had a similar problem with my Thalia, though I can't say for sure if it's the same issue. Have you tried all the audio sources? For instance, does the auxiliary input work, or USB audio if your system has it? Sometimes a fault in one part of the system can kill the whole thing.

Thanks for the quick response! I've tried the radio, CD player, and auxiliary input – nothing. The USB port doesn't seem to be recognized either. Is that what you experienced? Could a single defective speaker really take out the entire system like that?

Yes, that's exactly what happened to me. In my case, it turned out to be the bass speaker. Although it sounds odd, a short circuit within one speaker can sometimes affect the entire audio system's output. Given that you've checked the other inputs, it's best to take it to a workshop to confirm the diagnosis. They'll be able to test the speakers and wiring properly.

Took the car to a workshop as suggested, and you were spot on! It was indeed the bass speaker. Replacing it cost me 280€, but at least the audio is back. Thanks for your help!
