Thalia boost pressure actuator issue

I'm having trouble with my 2005 Renault Thalia/Symbol diesel. It has about 227,493 km on it. Recently, the check engine light came on, and the engine power is noticeably reduced. It feels like it's struggling, and the engine response is just terrible. I also hear this weird whistling noise, almost like a loud hissing sound, when I accelerate. Sometimes, the engine even stalls when idling. Could higher fuel consumption be connected to all of this? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I had similar symptoms in my Thalia. Is there any chance the boost pressure actuator could be faulty? That electrical bypass valve is known to cause issues with the turbo system.

Interesting, could you elaborate on that a bit more? How would I check if it's the boost pressure actuator, and what exactly does that do? Is there any chance it could be the pressure sensor? I don't want to just throw parts at the problem without knowing for sure.

A defective actuator valve often leads to these symptoms. A faulty valve, or issues with the pressure sensor, can create an electrical bypass. Honestly, it's difficult to diagnose precisely without proper equipment. I would strongly advise visiting a workshop to have the turbo system professionally inspected. It could save you money in the long run.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to a shop, and you were right. They confirmed it was the boost pressure actuator. They replaced it, and now it runs like new. The repair cost me around 250€. I really appreciate your help!
