Thalia Engine Start Failure

Hi, I've got a 2021 Renault Thalia (diesel engine) with about 216k km on the clock. The engine refuses to start. I had a quick look and the cable connections of the battery seem ok. Any ideas?

Hey! Sounds like a pain. I had something similar happen with my Thalia. Was also a diesel. Does the engine crank at all, or is it just completely dead? Also, have you noticed any check engine light or any other warning lights on the dashboard before it completely gave up?

Thanks for the quick reply! No, the engine doesn't crank at all. The dashboard lights up as usual, but there's no action when I turn the key. And yes, that check engine light has been on for a while now, but I thought it was just a minor thing. Any more ideas?

Yep, sounds very familiar! With the check engine light being on for a while, it could point to a more serious issue than just bad connections. It's probably best to take it to a workshop to get a proper diagnostic. They can check the ECU and the fuel injection system. Don't risk doing more damage yourself.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! I took your advice and went to a workshop. Turns out it was indeed a bad cable connection, as I initially suspected, but not at the battery. A cable near the starter motor was bad. They fixed it for 155€. Now it works! Thanks again!
