Thalia gearbox slippage
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Renault Thalia is experiencing gearbox slippage and unclean shifts, suspected to be caused by issues with the transfer case oil and potentially defective gears. The problem is theorized to stem from mechanical wear, specifically worn gears affecting the oil. A similar issue was resolved by checking the transfer case, leading to a diagnosis of worn gears, with a repair cost of 330€.

Jerky, yes, especially between 2nd and 3rd. I haven't checked the oil levels yet, figured I'd get some opinions first. When you mention the transfer case, were you experiencing similar symptoms beforehand, or did it just suddenly go bang? Any specific gears?

My car presented the same symptoms, first intermittently then constantly. I am no expert, but it might be mechanical wear. I'd recommend you have the car checked by a workshop, just to be sure.

Appreciate the input! I got it booked in and the diagnosis was spot on - transfer case, worn gears. Quoted 330€ for the repair. Thanks again!

I had similar gearbox issues on my Symbol. Not sure about the Thalia but does it feel jerky when shifting? Mine did, and the issue also appeared when the car had warmed up. Could be related to the transfer case. Have you checked the oil levels?
