Thalia key battery warning

Hi, I have a 2004 Renault Thalia/Symbol with a diesel engine and 151436 km. I'm getting a "key battery low" warning. Keyless access doesn't work, there's an error stored, and unlocking/locking is unreliable. Could this be just the key battery?

Yes, that is quite possibly just the key fob battery. Have you tried replacing it? It is a common issue and the first thing you should check. They're not too hard to change yourself.

I haven't replaced it yet. Is it likely to cause all these problems, or could there be something else going on?

It is very likely the cause of all your troubles, especially with that specific warning. However, if a new battery doesn't fix it, I would recommend a workshop visit to diagnose the error code.

Thanks for the advice. Changed the battery and that fixed it. Cost me 37€!
