Thalia Overheating Slow Warmup

Hi, I'm having trouble with my 2013 Renault Thalia/Symbol diesel. The engine is overheating, and it takes ages to warm up! The mileage is currently at 183259 km. Could it be the temperature sensor? I've read online that it might be a thermostat issue, but I'm not sure where to start.

Hey! I had a similar issue with my Thalia/Symbol (though it's a bit older). It was like the engine was running cold all the time, and then suddenly overheating. Did you notice if the coolant level is dropping, or if the radiator fan is running constantly?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't noticed any coolant leaks, and the fan seems to be running normally most of the time, but I'll keep an eye on it. What exactly was wrong with your car, and how did you fix it? Was it easy to do yourself? I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to car repairs, so I'm a bit worried about messing things up.

Turns out it was the MAP thermostat – the wax element that controls the coolant flow was shot. Think of it like a stuck door that's either wide open or slammed shut. I didn't dare to fix it on my own. I went to the workshop and they fixed it. My advice would be to take it to a workshop as well. Good luck!

Thanks a lot! It sounds like a defective thermostat is the most likely culprit. I'll take it to a trusted mechanic this week. I appreciate the help!
