Tiburon Intake Air Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The issue with the 2000 Hyundai Tiburon was related to the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor, as indicated by the check engine light and error code P0113. This code suggests a 'High Input' from the sensor, which can cause rough idling and reduced engine performance. The problem was likely due to a faulty sensor or wiring issues. The suggested solution was to replace the IAT sensor, which resolved the issue, restoring engine performance and clearing the check engine light.

The OBD2 reader gave me code P0113, which from what I understand is 'Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit High Input'. I visually inspected the wiring, and I didn't notice anything immediately obvious, but I'll take a closer look. Is there a way to test the sensor itself to be sure, or should I just replace it based on the code?

P0113 pretty much confirms it. 'High Input' usually means the sensor is sending an implausible reading to the ECU, either due to a fault within the sensor itself or a break in the wiring. While you could try to test the sensor's resistance with a multimeter (Google the proper resistance range for your Tiburon's IAT sensor), at this point, it's likely the sensor itself. Given the age of your car, and the relatively low cost of an IAT sensor, I'd say it's a safe bet to replace it. Just be sure to clear the code after replacement. However, faulty wiring is possible too, and might be hard to measure without professional tools. If the issue is not solved through sensor replacement you might need to consult a professional.

I replaced the intake air temperature sensor, cleared the code, and the check engine light hasn't come back on since. The rough idling is gone too, and the engine feels like it has its power back. The repair ended up costing me 155€ with parts and labor at the local shop. Appreciate the help!

Sounds like a plausible diagnosis. The intake air temperature sensor, or IAT, measures the temperature of the air entering your engine. This reading is crucial for your car's computer (ECU) to calculate the correct air/fuel mixture. A faulty IAT sensor will often trigger a check engine light and can lead to reduced performance and rough running, just like you're describing. What code exactly did the OBD2 reader give you? And have you checked the sensor's wiring for any obvious damage?
