Thanks for sharing your experience with the GPS antenna repair. Did the fix hold up over time? Curious because my 2020 Tiguan is showing those exact symptoms now. The car navigation system is completely dead and cant get a satellite connection at all. Before booking a workshop visit, it would help to know what kind of repair costs to expect for this job. I have checked a few places but prices vary widely. Would you mind sharing what you ended up paying for the complete fix? Also, have any other car electronics issues popped up since the repair was done? The GPS unit is pretty essential for my daily driving so Im hoping to get this resolved quickly with a reliable fix. Just want to avoid any surprises with the final bill.

Had my Tiguan in the shop last week for the exact same GPS antenna problem. Happy to report the satellite connection is now working perfectly after replacing the faulty antenna assembly. Total cost came to 200€ which covered: New GPS module and antenna, Labor for headliner removal, System recalibration, Weatherproofing The car electronics are all working great since the repair. No other issues have surfaced and the vehicle GPS maintains strong signal even in challenging conditions. The navigation system now locks onto satellites immediately when starting the car. The price was worth it for a proper fix rather than temporary solutions. Having a working GPS is essential, and the repair shop did thorough testing to ensure everything was correctly sealed to prevent future water damage. Based on my experience, I would say its best to get it fixed properly by a qualified technician rather than trying cheaper alternatives that might not last.

Just got back from having my Tiguan fixed at the workshop. The signal interference issue turned out to be exactly what you described, water damage affecting the GPS antenna assembly. The repair cost came to 180€, slightly less than yours. The mechanic showed me the corroded connection points while doing the antenna repair. Pretty shocking how much damage a small water leak can cause to car navigation systems. They completed the work in about 6 hours, including: Full diagnostic scan, Antenna replacement, Waterproofing treatment, Navigation system tests Took the car for a test drive afterward and the satellite connection is perfect now. The GPS locks on instantly and maintains strong signal through tunnels and covered areas. Really glad to have the navigation working properly again. Thanks again for the detailed advice. It helped me avoid getting overcharged and made sure I got the right fix done. Will definitely keep an eye on the roof seals to prevent future water issues with the vehicle GPS.

I encountered the same GPS signal interference issue with my 2019 VW Golf R. The vehicle GPS system showed identical symptoms, complete signal loss and error codes. After thorough diagnosis, the problem stemmed from a corroded GPS antenna connection under the roof liner. Water had seeped through a poorly sealed roof edge, causing damage to the car electronics and GPS module housing. The fix required: Removing the headliner, Replacing the complete GPS antenna assembly, Resealing the roof edge properly, Recalibrating the navigation system This was not a quick fix as accessing the GPS components required significant interior disassembly. The repair took nearly a full day at the workshop. Its definitely worth having an experienced VW technician handle this, as proper waterproofing during reassembly is crucial to prevent future issues. A failing GPS antenna will typically show these symptoms: Complete loss of position tracking, Constant searching for signal, Navigation system error messages, Intermittent GPS functionality Consider having a full diagnostic scan done first, as sometimes GPS issues can also be caused by software glitches in the navigation control module.
