Tiida hissing sound and fuel consumption
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Nissan Tiida owner experienced increased fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a loud hissing sound during acceleration. The issue was suspected to be a vacuum hose problem, potentially a leak in the air intake system. Upon inspection, a cracked intake hose was identified and replaced, resolving the hissing sound, turning off the check engine light, and restoring normal fuel economy.

I haven't checked the air filter, but it was changed about a year ago. I'll check the intake hoses. If it is a leak, is it something that needs immediate attention? Will it damage the turbocharger?

Yes, driving with an intake leak isn't great for fuel economy and could potentially cause issues down the line. A leak messes with the air/fuel mixture. While it might not immediately kill the turbocharger, it is best to get it sorted quickly. It’s likely just an intake hose leaking. If you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, a workshop should be able to diagnose and fix it pretty easily.

Thanks for the advice! I checked the intake hose and found a crack. I replaced it myself; the hose cost about 100€. The hissing is gone, the check engine light is off, and my fuel economy is back to normal.

That hissing sound is definitely not normal. Could be a leak in the air intake system. Have you checked the air filter or any of the intake hoses after the air filter? A leak there would cause those symptoms. Does the hissing get louder with more RPMs?
