Tipo Diesel Stalling Rough Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Fiat Tipo diesel is experiencing starting issues, stalling at idle, rough engine performance, and increased fuel consumption, with a check engine light indicating a gasoline delivery error. The problem is suspected to be related to the fuel delivery system, possibly a defective fuel pump. Suggested solutions include checking the fuel filter, inspecting wiring and connections to the fuel pump, and reading the error memory. The issue was resolved by repairing a defective cable or plug connection to the fuel pump.

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't checked the wiring or connections yet. Where exactly should I be looking for these connections?

The fuel pump is usually inside the fuel tank, so the wiring harness and connector will be near the tank. It might be awkward to get to without lifting the car, but trace the fuel lines back from the engine, and you'll eventually find where the electrical connector plugs into the pump assembly. Also, I would really suggest going to the workshop and having the error memory read out! You could save yourself a lot of time and money.

Thank you so much for your help! It turned out to be a defective cable or plug connection, just as you suspected. The workshop was able to repair the fuel pump connection for just 95€. I appreciate your advice on checking the simple things first!

Sounds like a fuel delivery problem for sure, given the symptoms and error code. Rough running, stalling, high fuel consumption – they all point that way. Before replacing the pump, have you checked the basics, like the fuel filter? A clogged filter can starve the pump. Also, have you inspected the wiring and connections to the fuel pump? A loose or corroded connector can cause intermittent problems.
