Tipo gear shift indicator issue
Summary of the thread
The 2022 Fiat Tipo is experiencing issues with the gear shift indicator and transmission, including implausible shifting, slipping, and grinding noises. The problem is linked to a defective control unit, as indicated by an error stored in the error memory and a non-functional gear selection display. The recommended solution is to have the error code read at a workshop, which confirmed the control unit as the cause, leading to its replacement and resolution of the issue.

Interesting. No, I haven't noticed any specific conditions triggering it. It seems pretty random. Could you tell me what the cause was in your case?

Yeah, in my case, it turned out to be a defective control unit. From the symptoms you describe, it really does sound like the same thing. Sadly, I think the best thing to do is to get it to a workshop and have them read the error code. But I would bet on the control unit.

Thanks for the insight! I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. It was indeed the control unit. The repair cost me about 1000€. At least it's fixed now.

Hey, that sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my 2018 Opel Insignia a while back. Same symptoms – the gear indicator went haywire, and the transmission was all over the place. Did you notice any specific conditions that trigger it, like temperature or engine load?
