Tipo MOST Bus Fault

I'm at my wit's end. I've got a 2020 Fiat Tipo, diesel engine, with about 65,000 km on the clock. Recently, the audio system completely died – no sound whatsoever. The navigation is also kaput. Hooked it up to a diagnostic tool and it's throwing a MOST bus fault error. From what I've gathered, it seems like a control unit on the MOST bus might be the culprit. Has anyone experienced this before? Seriously hoping I don't have to tear apart the whole car to find it! Repair cost is estimated at around 1000€, which makes me sick.

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Fiat Tipo owner is experiencing a complete failure of the audio and navigation systems, with a diagnostic tool indicating a MOST bus fault error. This issue is suspected to be caused by a faulty control unit on the MOST bus. A similar case was resolved by having a specialist confirm and fix the faulty control unit, suggesting that professional intervention is advisable for this problem.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Woah, that sounds eerily familiar! I have a Tipo as well, though I can't remember the exact year. I had a similar issue a while back. Complete audio failure, navigation dead, and that dreaded MOST bus error. Did you check all the fuses related to the infotainment system? Also, are you getting any other weird electrical glitches?

Thanks for the reply! I did check the fuses, all seem fine, sadly. No other electrical issues that I've noticed, everything else seems to be working perfectly. Was your issue exactly the same, just the audio and navigation gone? Did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a shop?

Yep, exactly the same symptoms. Just the audio and navigation were affected. Honestly, I tried fiddling around with it myself for a bit, checking connections and all that, but I quickly realized I was out of my depth. Ended up taking it to a specialist. They confirmed it was a faulty control unit on the MOST bus. Saved myself a lot of headache by just letting them handle it. Probably best to get it checked by someone who knows these automotive protocol systems inside and out!

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Sounds like I'm heading down the same road. I'll book it in at the workshop then and get them to take a look. At least now I have an idea of what to expect! It's good to know that somebody else had the same problem and that it's fixable.
