Tipo water sensor malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Fiat Tipo diesel is experiencing a check engine light and rough engine performance, with an error indicating a water sensor malfunction. The issue seems to worsen in wet conditions, suggesting a potential problem with the sensor's cable or plug connection. The solution involved taking the car to a workshop, where a faulty connection to the water sensor was identified and repaired by cleaning and replacing some wiring.

That's interesting. It does seem to happen more when it's wet, now that you mention it. So, did you manage to fix it yourself, or did you end up taking it to a shop? And do you remember roughly how much it cost?

Nah, I'm not really much of a mechanic. I just took it straight to the workshop. They sorted it pretty quick. Can't remember the exact price, but it wasn't crazy expensive. If it's worse when it's wet, it probably is the sensor or the wiring. Best to get it checked properly I reckon.

Thanks for the advice! I bit the bullet and took it to the workshop. Turns out it was indeed a dodgy connection to the water sensor, like I initially thought. They cleaned it up and replaced a bit of wiring. Cost me 95€ all in. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar thing happen with my old Opel Corsa. Check engine light, error code related to a sensor... Can't remember exactly which one now. Does it happen all the time, or just when it's been raining or the car has been washed?
