Hey, thanks for your reply! It really sounds like we have the same problem. Can you remember how much the repair of the control unit cost you? And have you had any additional problems with your car since the repair? Whatever you have could really help me out!

Hey, sure, I can still remember it well. The repair of the control unit wasn't cheap, it cost me €1000. But since then the cruise control has been fully operational again, so it was well worth it. I haven't had any additional problems since then, everything is running smoothly again. I hope that makes your decision a little easier!

Thanks for sharing your experience with me! I think I'll get the problem with the ECU checked out. It's quite a bit of money, but if it stays that way and the car runs after that... then it's probably a wise investment. Thanks for your useful insights! Your words have certainly helped me make up my mind. Have a nice day and a safe journey!

Hey, I had a similar problem with my 2014 VW Golf, also petrol. The control unit was defective and it paralyzed the cruise control. No error codes, but same symptoms. The mechanic said it's not a common problem, but it does happen. The good news is that it can be fixed. It sounds like this could be the case for you too. It's a serious thing, but not the end of the world. Hope this helps you.
