When you mention checking for leaks in the air intake, where specifically should I be looking? Are there areas more prone to leakage?

Yeah, the usual suspects are the hoses connecting to the intake manifold. They get old and crack, especially with a diesel. Given all your symptoms, though, and the error code, honestly, it's probably best to have a mechanic take a look. Could be a scorched intake manifold, which means replacing the whole thing. Been there, done that – not cheap!

Based on your recommendation, I took the Tourneo to a workshop. The diagnosis confirmed a defective intake manifold due to scorching, as you suggested. The repair cost 1180€ Thank you for your assistance.

Jerking, stalling, check engine light... sounds familiar! Had that with my old Mondeo. Is it throwing any specific codes? Could be your air intake – those things get gunked up. Check for leaks too; that can mess with your manifold pressure readings and cause all sorts of havoc.
