Tourneo MOST bus fault

I'm at my wit's end! My 2007 Ford Tourneo diesel is giving me absolute grief. The MOST bus seems to have gone belly up. No audio whatsoever, the whole audio system is dead, and the navigation is just a fancy paperweight. And to top it off, the error memory is bursting with related faults. I suspect it's a control unit on the MOST bus playing up, but where do I even start?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Ford Tourneo diesel is experiencing issues with the MOST bus, leading to a non-functional audio system and navigation, accompanied by numerous error codes. The suspected cause is a faulty control unit on the MOST bus. A similar issue in a BMW was resolved by identifying a faulty amplifier on the MOST ring, suggesting a potential parallel. The recommended solution is to have a specialist diagnose and repair the faulty control unit, which ultimately resolved the issue for the Ford Tourneo.

Sounds familiar. Had a similar headache with my old BMW 5 series. The symptoms were almost identical – no sound, nav system kaput, and a stack of error codes. Turned out to be a faulty amplifier on the MOST ring. Is the Ford system using a similar setup?

An amplifier, you say? Interesting. Where was the amplifier located in your BMW? And how did you pinpoint that as the culprit? Any special diagnostic procedures involved, or was it just dumb luck?

The amp was in the trunk, near the battery. Honestly, I didn't figure it out myself. Took it to a specialist. They used some fancy diagnostic tool to isolate the fault on the MOST bus. If I were you, I'd bite the bullet and get it checked by a workshop. It'll save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run.

Right you are. Took it to the shop, and you nailed it – a faulty control unit on the MOST bus. They replaced it, ran some diagnostics, and everything is back up and running. Cost me about 1000€, but at least I have tunes again. Thanks for the pointer!
