Trafic AC Problems

Alright, I'm about to lose my mind! My 2005 Renault Trafic with a gasoline engine is giving me grief. The AC is completely dead. I've got an error stored in the memory, the air con just blows warm air, and the system refuses to even switch on. To top it off, there's a warning light glaring at me. My mechanic suspects a defective AC control unit. Anyone else dealt with this?

Sounds familiar! I've got a Trafic too, and I had a similar issue last summer. Did you check the refrigerant level? Low refrigerant can trigger all those symptoms. It's like trying to run a marathon with no water – the compressor just gives up.

Thanks for the tip! I didn't check the refrigerant level myself, but the mechanic should have. When you say "similar issue", do you mean every symptom I'm experiencing? Because if so, I'm preparing myself for the worst...

Yep, every single one. Error code, no cold air, the whole shebang. In the end, my mechanic replaced the compressor and that sorted it out. You're probably looking at a workshop visit.

Bugger. Knew it! Thanks for confirming my fears, but also for the heads-up. Turns out the mechanic was right - defective AC control unit and compressor failure. Invoice came to 980€. At least I can breathe cool air again. Appreciate the help!
