Trafic alarm system siren communication fault
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Renault Trafic owner reported an issue with the alarm system being non-functional, with an error indicating a siren communication fault. The suspected cause was a defective cable or plug connection. A similar past experience with a Peugeot 307 suggested checking for corrosion in the wiring harness. Upon inspection by a mechanic, a corroded connector was identified and replaced, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly was the corroded connector located on your Peugeot? Any specific area I should focus on when inspecting the Trafic's wiring?

On the 307, it was near the wheel arch, quite exposed to the elements. Honestly, I'd recommend having a workshop take a look. They can properly diagnose it and, in my case, it didn't cost too much to fix – just a simple connector replacement. I only paid like 80€.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I had a mechanic check it out, and you were spot on! It was indeed a corroded connector. They replaced it, cleared the error, and now the alarm is working perfectly. The total cost was 95€. Cheers!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my old Peugeot 307. The alarm would randomly go off, or sometimes not arm at all. In my case, it turned out to be a corroded connector in the wiring harness leading to the siren. Have you checked for any visible signs of corrosion or damage?
