Trafic brake lights faulty switch

Hi, I've got a 2014 Renault Trafic with a gasoline engine and I'm running into a weird issue. The brake lights aren't working, and the dash is throwing an error message. I scanned it and it's showing a bad brake light switch. I've checked the bulbs and fuses, all seem okay. Any ideas?

I understand you are experiencing difficulties with your Renault Trafic's brake lights. The error code indicating a faulty brake light switch does indeed suggest a problem within that specific component. Have you had any work done recently near the brake pedal assembly or performed any modifications to the vehicle's electrical system which may have inadvertently affected the switch or its wiring?

No, I haven't done any recent work in that area. I did accidentally kick the brake pedal pretty hard a couple of weeks ago. Could that be related?

It is certainly plausible that unintentionally applying excessive force to the brake pedal may have caused damage to the brake light switch. While these switches are designed to withstand normal operational use, sudden or forceful impacts can indeed compromise their functionality. Considering the error code, the symptoms you are experiencing, and the event you described, it would be prudent to have the switch examined.

Thanks for the advice! Turns out it was just the switch, and I managed to fix it myself. It seems I had knocked the connector loose when I kicked the pedal. Reconnected it and all good now. No cost!
