Thanks, I did try resetting the codes with an OBD scanner, but the error comes back shortly after. Could it be a deeper issue with the control module?

Yep, that's what happened with my Astra. Resetting didn't do squat. Sounds like you might need to get the control module checked out by a workshop. Could be a coding issue like you suspected, or something else.

I appreciate the insight. I'm taking it to a workshop. It turned out that the coding was indeed incorrect. The repair cost 360€ Thanks for the advice.

Hey, that sounds frustrating! I had something similar happen with my old Opel Astra. I kept getting a check engine light and weird messages. Did you try resetting the codes to see if it comes back?
