Trafic fuel pump issue

My 2008 Renault Trafic with a gasoline engine is giving me headaches. It won't start sometimes, stalls when idling, and the check engine light is on. Also, the engine runs rough, and fuel consumption seems higher. The error code points to the fuel pump. Any ideas?

I experienced similar symptoms with my 2012 Opel Astra; however, in my case, the error pointed towards fuel injector issues. The car would occasionally stall, and the engine ran rough, particularly at lower speeds. Have you checked the cable and plug connections to the fuel pump itself? A faulty connection could be the culprit before assuming the pump is entirely defective.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check the connections. Where exactly should I be looking? Any specific things to watch out for?

With the Opel Astra, the fuel injector connections were somewhat exposed near the engine block. Locate the fuel pump in your Renault Trafic. Examine the wiring harness and connector for any signs of corrosion, damage, or loose fitting. If you are uncertain how to proceed I would strongly suggest that you consult with a trained automotive professional and take it to a trusted workshop for proper diagnosis, as the diagnosis may require specialist tools to properly perform.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I checked the connections like you suggested, and they seemed okay. Ended up taking it to a shop, and you were right – it was just a bad connection! Cost me 95€ to fix. Thanks again!
