Trafic poor engine running cold starts
Summary of the thread
The issue involves a 2019 Renault Trafic diesel experiencing poor engine performance during cold starts, an error in the memory, and increased fuel consumption. A suspected cause is a defective electric auxiliary heater, also known as the PTC heater element. A similar problem in another vehicle was resolved by replacing this component, suggesting it could be the solution. It is recommended to have the heater checked by a professional to confirm and address the issue.

Thank you for the insight. When you say "PTC heater element", are you referring to the electric auxiliary heater? I'm trying to clarify the component you're describing.

Affirmative. By PTC heater element, I mean the electric auxiliary heater. Given the symptoms and error codes, it's highly probable that it's the culprit. I would advise visiting a workshop to make sure. My repair costed around 300€, although the heater was from another brand.

Interesting. I had similar symptoms on my 2016 Opel Vivaro. Heat not working properly, especially in the initial phase. Have you checked the PTC heater element itself? In my case, it was faulty, leading to inefficient heating and the engine compensating by burning more fuel. Could be the same for you.
