In my case, it was faulty, leading to inefficient heating and the engine compensating by burning more fuel. Could be the same for you.

Affirmative. By PTC heater element, I mean the electric auxiliary heater. Given the symptoms and error codes, it's highly probable that it's the culprit. I would advise visiting a workshop to make sure. My repair costed around 300€, although the heater was from another brand.
