The light on the switch does illuminate when activated. I will inspect the fuses and relays. Can you provide further details regarding potential issues with the connection to the heating element? Any specific areas to focus on?

The connections to the rear window itself are pretty flimsy. They're usually just glued on. Mine came loose once and caused all sorts of grief. Honestly, though, if the light's on and the fuses are good, you're probably looking at a more involved electrical problem. Get it to a workshop; that's what I did.

I took the vehicle to a workshop. The battery was indeed heavily discharged. Replacement and diagnostics cost 290€. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Rear window woes, eh? I had something like that happen in my Trafic. Check the simple stuff first – fuses and relays. Could also be a dodgy connection to the heating element itself. Does the light on the switch come on when you try to use it?
