Trajet DPF Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2003 Hyundai Trajet with a diesel engine is experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, leading to the suspicion of a defective diesel particulate filter (DPF). A similar issue was resolved by addressing a faulty sensor, but the primary recommendation is to book a vehicle inspection to confirm the DPF's condition. Ultimately, the problem was confirmed to be a defective DPF, which was repaired, restoring normal fuel efficiency.

Interesting. Which sensor specifically caused the issue for you? Want to check the easy things first before I look into DPF cleaning or a complete diesel filter replacement.

Can't recall the exact sensor, unfortunately. My advice? Don't chase ghosts. Given the symptoms, mileage and your suspicion, you are most likely dealing with a defective DPF. Book that inspection; you'll save time and money in the long run.

Thanks, appreciate the insight. Ended up being a defective DPF, as suspected. Repair cost me 1550€. Fuel efficiency is back to normal now, though.

I had similar symptoms in my Trajet. Felt like driving through molasses. Have you checked for any sensor faults? It could be a faulty sensor giving incorrect readings and messing with the DPF's operation.
