Trajet Electrical Issues Bumper Antenna

I'm having electrical issues with my 2000 Hyundai Trajet (gasoline engine). I'm getting a persistent error code, the central locking is erratic, and the engine won't start without the key in the ignition. I suspect the bumper antenna. Anyone else experienced this?

Summary of the thread

The 2000 Hyundai Trajet is experiencing electrical issues, including a persistent error code, erratic central locking, and engine start problems. The suspected cause is a faulty bumper antenna connection. A similar issue was resolved by addressing corrosion and weak connections at the antenna plug. The suggested solution is to inspect and repair the plug connection, which successfully resolved the problem in this case.

Wow, that sounds frustrating! I had a similar problem with my Trajet. The symptoms you're describing are eerily familiar. For me, it turned out to be a dodgy connection to the bumper antenna. The radio signal was weak, and that seemed to mess with the central locking system too. Have you checked the wiring and the plug connecting the antenna to the car's electrical system? It could be something as simple as a loose or corroded connection.

When you mention a 'dodgy connection,' could you elaborate on the specific location of the defect? Was it the cable itself, the plug connecting to the antenna, or perhaps the point where the cable enters the vehicle's interior? Any details you can provide would be invaluable.

Okay, so from what I remember, the main issue was the plug connecting the antenna. The pins inside were corroded, and the connection was really weak. It wasn't immediately obvious until I gave the wires a little wiggle. After that, the mechanic told me that the defective cable or plug connection of the component was the most likely cause and that he had seen the issue on a Trajet multiple times. If I were you, I'd suggest going to a workshop and having them take a look at the bumper antenna.

I inspected the plug connection to the bumper antenna and discovered significant corrosion and a compromised connection. After taking it to the mechanic, he fixed the connection and now everything works again. The repair cost 95€. Thanks for the help!
