Transit Door Locking Failure
Summary of the thread
The central locking system on a 2000 Ford Transit is not functioning, suspected to be due to a door contact signal issue. A potential cause could be a broken wire in the wiring harness between the door and the frame, similar to a problem experienced with a Renault Megane. The solution involves inspecting and possibly repairing the wiring loom, which may require professional assistance if one is not comfortable with electrical repairs.

Can you tell me exactly where the broken wire was in the wiring harness? Was it easy to see, or did you need special tools to find it?

On the Megane, it was hidden inside the rubber boot that protects the wires between the door and the body. You have to peel back the rubber. I didn't see the break at first, but wiggling the wires made the central locking work sometimes. That's when I knew it was there. If you're not comfortable with electrical stuff, a workshop might be the best bet.

I had a technician check the wiring harness, and you were right. There was a broken wire in the door loom, just like you said. The repair cost 95€, including parts and labor. Thanks for the help.

I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. The doors acted up just like that. It turned out to be a broken wire in the wiring harness where it goes into the door. Like bending a paperclip too many times, it snaps. Have you checked the wiring loom between the door and the frame?
