Transmission problems with Ford Kuga 2013: search for skilled mechanic

Hi folks! I've got a 2013 Ford Kuga with a petrol engine and just under 121,000 kilometers on the clock. Recently, the thing started making strange noises - the gearbox slips and shifts unevenly, plus a grinding noise when shifting and a howling or grinding noise. My suspicion is that the transmission oil pressure cooler is malfunctioning. Have any of you had similar experiences and can perhaps give me tips on how to find a competent mechanic? I wasn't so lucky last time. I would really appreciate any help!

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Ford Kuga owner is experiencing transmission issues, including slipping, uneven shifting, and grinding noises, possibly due to a malfunctioning transmission oil pressure cooler. Another individual shared a similar experience with a different Ford model, where a defective cable connection to the valve caused similar problems. The suggested solution is to find a competent mechanic, possibly through recommendations from friends or family, to diagnose and repair the issue, which could involve checking the cable connection or other components.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Hi, I drive a 2010 Ford Focus, which once had the same problem. In my case, the cable connection to the valve was defective. This caused the strange shifting and noises from the transmission. It was a bit hard to detect and required special tools to test and repair. But once that was fixed, my car ran like new. I had the work done at a trusted garage. Ask around with your friends or family, maybe they know a good garage near you. It wasn't that big a problem, but obviously something that needs to be fixed properly. Hope this helps a little!

Hey, thanks for the quick reply and your tips! Do you remember how much you had to pay for the repair? And did any other problems occur after the repair? Your experience would be really helpful. Thank you very much for your support!

Hey, no problem, always happy to help! I paid around €170 to have the cable connection to the valve repaired. It wasn't cheap, but it saved me further problems. And as for the malfunction of the transmission oil pressure cooler, after my car was checked by the mechanic, it was fixed very quickly. Since then, the car has been running like clockwork again and no further problems have occurred. So you can rest assured that if you find a good mechanic, it will all be done quickly!

Thanks for your help and the detailed tips! It seems to be easier than I thought. 170 euros isn't too bad for the fact that the car will run like a charm again afterwards. I'll ask the people around me for a solid garage and try my luck again. I hope I have better luck this time than the last. Thanks again, you've really helped me a lot! See you next time!
