Traverse electronic parking brake failure

My 2014 Chevy Traverse with a gasoline engine has an electronic parking brake that's completely dead. There's an error code and a warning light. I'm guessing it's the electric motor in the brake caliper. Has anyone else seen this? I'm worried about the repair cost; I saw something around 500€.

Summary of the thread

The 2014 Chevy Traverse's electronic parking brake is malfunctioning, indicated by an error code and warning light. The issue is suspected to be a defective electric motor in the brake caliper. A similar problem was noted by another owner, who suggested checking the brake switch or considering a system glitch. Ultimately, professional diagnostics and repair were recommended, with the repair cost estimated at around 505€.

I had something similar happen with my Traverse. Same symptoms – light, error, handbrake not engaging. It was a pain. Did you check the brake switch? Or maybe it's a system glitch?

Thanks! I haven't checked the brake switch. I don't even know where it is. Is the switch easy to check, or should I just get brake diagnostics?

I'm no expert, but mine was more complicated than a simple switch. I'd recommend a workshop look at it. It could save you time and money.

Appreciate the advice! I'll bring it in. It's going to cost around 505€ to fix, because the electric motor in the brake caliper is defective. Thanks again!
