Trax Diesel Engine Running Lean

I have a 2018 Chevrolet Trax with a diesel engine. The engine seems to be running too lean, with reduced power, check engine light, rough running, and jerking when accelerating. I've checked the air filter and MAF sensor, both seem clean. Could a faulty catalytic converter, spark plugs, EGR valve, or dirty throttle body be the cause?

A 2018 Chevrolet Trax with a diesel engine is experiencing issues of running lean, resulting in reduced power, a check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. Initial checks of the air filter and MAF sensor showed they were clean. Potential causes considered include a faulty catalytic converter, spark plugs, EGR valve, or a dirty throttle body. Hey there! I have a Trax too, and I had similar issues a while back. Engine felt like it was gasping for air. Have you checked the fuel injectors themselves? Those can get clogged up pretty easily. Is the check engine light flashing or just staying on?

The check engine light is just staying on, not flashing. I haven't pulled the injectors yet, wanted to explore other options first. When you say you had similar issues, was it the exact same symptoms – reduced power, rough running, jerking? What fixed it for you?

Okay, a constant light is slightly better than flashing. Yep, same symptoms – felt like I was driving a tractor, not a modern car. Honestly, diagnosing it myself was a pain. I'd recommend taking it to a good workshop and letting them run a proper diagnostic. Saved me a ton of time and potential headaches.

Appreciate the advice. I was hoping to avoid the shop, but it sounds like that might be the best course of action. I'll book it in and share the resolution. It was a defective injector valve. Cost me 515€ to get it sorted.
