Trax Diesel Engine Running Rich

I have a 2013 Chevrolet Trax with a diesel engine and about 215892 km on the clock. I think the engine is running way too rich. I've noticed a drop in power, the check engine light is on, and it's running rough. My fuel consumption is also up, and it feels like it's jerking when I accelerate. Could a defective injector valve be the culprit? Seems like too much fuel is being dumped in, like a tap that won't shut off.

Summary of the thread

A 2013 Chevrolet Trax with a diesel engine is experiencing symptoms of running rich, including a drop in power, rough running, increased fuel consumption, and a check engine light. Possible causes include a defective injector valve or a faulty oxygen sensor, both of which can disrupt the air-fuel mixture. Suggested solutions involve checking the air-fuel ratio and potentially replacing the oxygen sensor or injector valve, with a recommendation to visit a workshop for accurate diagnosis and repair.

Hey, that sounds familiar. I've got a Chevrolet Trax too, though not sure the exact year. I had similar issues. Check engine light, rough running, and feeling sluggish. Have you looked at the air-fuel ratio? It might be worth checking the oxygen sensor, as a faulty one can mess with the mixture. Feels like your engine is choking on fuel.

Thanks for the tip. Where exactly is the oxygen sensor located? Is it difficult to get to? And would that also cause increased fuel consumption like I'm seeing?

Well, mine was near the catalytic converter, but I'm not sure if yours is in the same spot. Honestly, I'm no mechanic. I took mine to a workshop when I had those problems. It could be the O2 sensor but to be sure, I would suggest to go to a workshop. They diagnosed an injector issue, and after 515€ it was like new.

Thanks for the heads-up. I'll take it to a local shop and get it checked out. Knowing it could be injectors causing the issue helps narrow things down. I appreciate the help.
