Trax diesel particulate filter issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Chevrolet Trax diesel with 106,518 km is experiencing reduced engine power and smoke during acceleration, suspected to be due to a defective diesel particulate filter (DPF). The issue is accompanied by an engine light, suggesting potential DPF backpressure problems or a sensor fault in the exhaust system. While DPF cleaning might offer a temporary fix, a workshop visit confirmed the need for a DPF replacement, resolving the issue.

Thanks. An engine light did come on recently. Is DPF cleaning a viable solution, or does it typically indicate a more serious problem?

In my experience, with an engine light and those symptoms, it's best to get it checked by a workshop. A defective diesel particulate filter might require replacement, unfortunately. DPF cleaning only helped for a short period, in my experience.

Thanks. I took your advice and went to the workshop. Indeed, it was a defective diesel particulate filter. The repair cost was 1550€. Seems to be running smoothly now. Thanks!

I've had similar issues with my Trax. Have you checked for an engine light? Could be DPF backpressure issues or even a sensor fault in the exhaust system. A DPF cleaning might resolve it. Let me know what happens.
