Trax Oil Pressure Warning
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Chevrolet Trax diesel with 201,245 km displayed an oil pressure warning, suspected to be due to engine oil contamination. The unusual oil color and exceeding the maintenance interval were identified as potential causes. The suggested solution was an oil change and filter replacement, which successfully resolved the issue.

Thanks for the quick response! When you say similar, do you mean the oil pressure warning lamp also lit up in your case? Did you notice any other problems, such as diminished engine performance or strange noises?

Yes, the oil pressure warning lamp was consistently illuminated in my Trax as well. Given the mileage and your description, it does point toward a maintenance issue. I would recommend having the vehicle inspected by a qualified mechanic to prevent further damage. An oil change and filter replacement should resolve the problem.

Thanks for your advice. I took it to a workshop, as you suggested. An oil change and new oil filter fixed the issue. Turns out the maintenance interval was indeed exceeded. The total repair cost was 165€. Hopefully, this resolves the issue permanently.

I own a Chevrolet Trax too, and I experienced similar symptoms. If the oil pressure warning lamp is active, exceeding the maintenance interval is a likely explanation. When was the last time you had an oil change and replaced the oil filter? What does the oil look like? If it’s sludgy or dark, that's a telltale sign.
