Tucson Hybrid High Voltage System Error
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid is experiencing a high-voltage system error, leading to occasional engine shutdowns and reduced power. The issue may be related to a discharged or faulty battery, or possibly damage to high-voltage cables, as seen in similar cases with other hybrid vehicles. It is advised to have the vehicle inspected by a certified service center to accurately diagnose and address the problem, given the complexity and risks associated with high-voltage systems.

Thanks for the info. Where exactly was the cable damage on your Prius? Were there any other diagnostic codes that might be relevant?

The damage was near the inverter, where the high-voltage cables connect. The diagnostic code was for a low-voltage reading from the battery management system, showing an imbalance in cell voltages. Given how complex hybrid systems are, I'd take your Tucson to a qualified workshop for a thorough check. High-voltage systems aren't something to mess with without the right training and gear.

I appreciate the explanation and advice. Based on your experience and the risks, I'll book an appointment with a certified Hyundai service center to diagnose the high-voltage system error. The estimated repair cost is 290€. Thanks again.

I had something similar with my 2019 Toyota Prius. Same symptoms: engine shutdowns and a high-voltage battery warning. For me, it was cable damage causing battery drain. Have you checked for damage to the high-voltage cables or any electrical fault signs?
