Tucson Jerking Acceleration and Power Loss
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Hyundai Tucson diesel is experiencing jerking acceleration, reduced power, rough idle, stalling, and an exhaust smell, with an error code present. The issue is suspected to be an intake manifold leak. A similar problem in a BMW was resolved by addressing a cracked manifold. The vehicle has been booked for repair, confirming a defective intake manifold as the cause.

Interesting! Cracked manifold, huh? Haven't noticed coolant or oil loss, but I'll double-check. Was your BMW's issue also linked to a manifold leak, and did it throw similar error codes?

Yes, it was definitely a manifold leak due to scorching. Get it to a trusted workshop ASAP; driving it in this condition is not recommended and can lead to further damage.

Thanks for the insight! Appreciate you sharing your BMW experience. Booked it in with a local shop; they've confirmed it's a defective intake manifold and quoted 1180€ for the repair. Hopefully, this will sort everything out.

Sounds familiar. My old BMW 3 series diesel had jerky acceleration, check engine light, and power loss. Turned out my intake manifold was cracked. Is your car losing coolant or oil?
