Tucson oxygen sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2016 Hyundai Tucson diesel experienced a check engine light and increased fuel consumption at 91,390 km, indicating an oxygen sensor error. The initial suspicion was a bad cable or plug connection, but no visible damage was found. The issue was likely related to the oxygen sensor rather than the catalytic converter. A workshop visit confirmed the problem, and replacing the oxygen sensor resolved the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked the wiring, and I don't see any damage. I don't have the error code right now. Could it be the catalytic converter?

It's possible, but less likely with those symptoms. A bad catalytic converter usually throws different codes and causes more than just fuel consumption issues. With the error and increased fuel consumption, it points to the O2 sensor. Since you don't see cable damage, I'd recommend a workshop visit. Replacing the exhaust sensor will probably fix it.

Thanks! I took it to the workshop, and you were right. It was the oxygen sensor. The bill was 95€ including parts and labor. All good now!

Sounds like a classic O2 sensor issue. Have you checked the wiring harness for damage? Sometimes rodents chew on them. What's the exact error code? That could help narrow down if it's the sensor or something else in the exhaust.
