Tundra Air Valve Hose Defect

I have a 2015 Toyota Tundra with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on and I suspect an air valve issue. I've checked for any obvious air intake leaks or throttle body problems but haven't found anything. Could a defective hose connection from the pump to the air valve be the cause? The truck has 187092 km on it. Any ideas?

I had a similar issue with my old 2012 Audi A4. The check engine light was on and the idle was rough. Turned out to be a vacuum hose leak. Have you checked all the small vacuum hoses connected to the air valve? Sometimes those connections can become brittle and crack, causing a vacuum leak. This means unmetered air is getting into the system.

So, to be clear, are you suggesting I should specifically focus on the vacuum hoses connected directly to the air valve itself, rather than the main air intake?

Yes, exactly. Start with the hoses that connect directly to the air valve. On my Audi, the faulty hose was very short and easy to miss. Because this is part of the air injection system, I would go to a reliable mechanic to have them check for pressure leaks. It will save you a lot of time and headache.

It turned out to be a defective hose connection from the pump to the air valve, just as I suspected. Cost me 175€ to get it fixed at the local workshop.
