Tundra Transmission Problems

I'm experiencing an unusual issue with my 2000 Toyota Tundra's transmission. It's a gasoline engine. At 177391 km, the transmission is acting up. Shifting is not possible on the paddle shifters and the gearbox slips, shifts uncleanly and even produces grinding noises when shifting gears. The paddle shifters are slow to respond, and the gearbox seems to be stuck in emergency mode. Error memory shows a fault. Could this be the transmission control unit on its way out? Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I drive a Tundra as well. I had similar symptoms a while back: erratic shifting, emergency mode, and an error code. Have you checked the basics, like fluid level and condition? Is it possible that you have another kind of electrical problem?

I've checked the fluid, and it seems okay. I suspect a defective control unit is the cause. Could this be the affected control unit defective? Were your symptoms exactly the same as mine?

Yes, it does sound very similar to what I experienced. In my case, the defective control unit was the culprit. I advise you to visit your mechanic, as the final bill for repair came out to be around 1000€.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion. I'll take it to a trusted workshop to have the control unit checked and replaced. It seems the affected control unit defective. I appreciate your input!
