Twingo automatic transmission issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Renault Twingo is experiencing poor shifting, a transmission indicator light, and is stuck in emergency mode, potentially due to worn-out transmission oil. The issue worsens when the car is cold or has been sitting. A similar case was resolved by addressing undervoltage and replacing the transmission oil, leading to smooth operation after repairs.

Good question! It seems worse when it's cold, or after it has been sitting a while, yes. What was your experience?

Yep, same here. Turned out to be undervoltage causing the transmission to freak out. Best bet is to get it checked out at a workshop; they'll likely need to check the transmission oil and the electrical system.

Thanks! I took it to a shop, and you nailed it. They confirmed undervoltage and that the transmission oil was worn. Replaced the oil, fixed the voltage issue, and now it runs smoothly again. Cost me 240€, but worth it!

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Twingo's automatic transmission. Does it seem to happen more when the car's been sitting for a while, or is it consistent?
