Twingo Clutch Pedal Switch Issue

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2016 Renault Twingo, gasoline engine. It's done 171525 km. I'm getting an error related to the clutch pedal switch. The gear selection display in the speedometer isn't working, the cruise control is inactive, and sometimes the engine refuses to start. I suspect it might be a dodgy cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

Wow, that sounds awfully familiar! I have a Twingo as well, and I ran into almost the exact same problems. The gear selector going nuts, the cruise control failing, and the engine refusing to start it's incredibly frustrating. I'd put money on that clutch pedal switch being the culprit, or more likely, the wiring leading to it. It's all tied into the car's safety mechanisms. Before tearing everything apart, have you tried just wiggling the connector on the switch? It might sound silly, but sometimes that's all it takes to get things working again. It's worth a shot before you start digging deeper!

Thanks for the quick reply! Wiggling the connector, huh? I'll give that a try first thing. When you had the issue, was it intermittent, or was it a constant problem? And did any other warning lights pop up on the dash, or was it just the gear selection display that was acting up?

In my case, it was definitely intermittent to begin with. Some days everything was fine, and others it was a complete nightmare. As for warning lights, I didn't have any other lights besides the gear selection display showing weirdness. Given that the problem escalated to the point where the engine wouldn't start, I'd strongly recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed. A faulty switch might seem like a small thing, but it can cause a real headache. The repair was 95€ at the shop.

Thanks for confirming that. I did wiggle the connector, but no luck. Looks like a trip to the workshop is in order. I'll let you know what they find. Turns out it was the switch after all, exactly like you said. All fixed now!
